Driza-Bone jackets trace their origins back to the late 1800s, when a Scottish sailor named Edward Le Roy began waterproofing old ship sails with oil and wax to create durable rainwear. After moving to Australasia, his designs were refined and improved, eventually catching the attention of Australian stockmen who adapted the coat for life on horseback with features like the fantail, leg straps, and long sleeves. Over time, this rugged oilskin riding coat became known as the Driza-Bone—famous for keeping its wearer “dry as a bone”—and today the brand continues to blend its heritage with modern, practical outdoor style.
